If you are into shopping and walking (miles and miles of walking), without car access, Strøget is your cup of tea. Tacked between The City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen), the central town square and on the east by Kongens Nytorv ("The King's New Square"), this is a pleasant stroll at Copenhagen's most heavily crowded tourist spot.
The shop alignment includes Illums Bolighus, the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Factory, chain and souvenir stores as well as the Lego flagship shop. The Royal porcelains are famous though expensive, worthy of taking home. The street performers are quite captivating. Note the side streets with plenty of charming little shops. More artistic shops and cafes can be found at Latin Quarter or Kompagnistraede and Laederstraede near the harbour. The most popular department store is the Magasin du Nord in Kongens Nytor.
