When Heston Blumenthal creates a venue, people follow. Beyond the initial excitement however, the restaurant needs to have good content in order to survive. And Dinner does more than that. It managed to overshadow Fat Duck, a legendary establishment in less than two years.
The food served seems casual but it is not. The famous "mandarin" which is actually a Mandarin, chicken liver & foie gras parfait served on grilled bread is a major hit. Beyond the appearance game it is a delicious appetizer. The rest of the items on the menu ensure that every palette angle is covered. From marrow to simple steaks, it is a simple yet coherent menu, executed properly.
Most importantly, the restaurant is priced reasonably even though it is top notch cuisine.
The ambience is vibrant and relaxed.
