Scott Monument, the surprising monument dating in 1846, pops up unexpectedly as it differs greatly from the rest of the architecture in the Edinburgh area.
The tall and dark Victorian Gothic monument is 200 feet high and features a number of observation platforms, which can be reached via spiral staircases. Scott Monument is dedicated to Sir Walter Scott.
It is a bit challenging to get up there with all the steps, but there are amazing views of the city once you do.
