You would never guess what lies beneath the little shops with the Prosciutto legs hanging in their windows. Dare to go in after you sample their wine and cheese and witness the underground wine cellars with thousands of year in the making.
The underground stone cellar system which can be traced to the Etruscan era, is where all the wine action takes place.
Montepulciano tunnels is the place were the wine is being aged in oak barrels and the shop owners along Via Gracchiano nel Corso and Piazza Grande will let you go in for free.
Not suitable for people with impaired mobility.
