Situated inside the magnificent Schloss Elmau hotel in Germany, the Luce d'Oro made quite an impression on us. It is a remote snowy area with breathtaking views, especially in the winter so staying at the hotel is a good idea.
It was a little hard to get the reservation but it was definitely worth it. What an experience! The description said French - Japanese which in the culinary world means complex umami flavours prepared with classic techniques. Luce d'Oro nails it! There is only one menu available with 6 dishes for €249 and with an extra dessert for €269. They also cater for our little one with a special fine dining 3-course edit for €50.
The menu included the best ingredients money can buy! Hand dived Scallop with Caviar, Foie Gras with multiple techniques, Black Hake, Red Gamba Prawn and Pigeon. Everything cooked to perfection with mesmerising presentations. Umami exuded from every single bite...
