Tourist tapas in San Sebastian

Tourist tapas bars, are usually heavily crowded and you can spot the "magnet" food from the street. This is how they allure you to go inside. Tourist tapas are like party food, or finger food. Mostly fried or served on bruscetas, topped with lots of mayonnaise, canned tuna, eggs and other ingredients.

Once you are in, you can barely get the attention of the waiter, who of course, doesn’t speak English. So forget about service. But, to be fair, it is the same with all tapas bars, tourist or local oriented.

Find yourself a little spot near the bar, and then the game is on. Grab a plate and put as many tapas as you want from the displayed items. But, do try to find things that have valued toppings such as salmon or shrimp, and avoid the cheap and bready staff.

Items cost approximately €2-3 each, but because you stock a lot in the plate, you could easily end up paying €20 for party snacks! And that is without the drinks.
