Although the small and narrow church of Santa Maria in Via is a basilica, it is one of the less glamorous churches, one that was not built to impress. That said, it seems ideal for some solitary time with the divine forces, with not a lot of destruction as it is not visited often by tourists.

It dates back to the 9^th century, and had major work done in the 11^th century, when it was declared by the Pope that a miracle had occurred with a well flooding incident. Nowadays, the well is there and you can still drink water from it.
