"Historic colorful town, part of which is located within Medieval ramparts."

The historic colorful town of Avignon, part of which is located within the ancient medieval ramparts, attracts many tourists for its beautiful weather and buzzing life. Avignon is located in the Vaucluse area on the left side of the Rhône river.

The Gothic Palais des Papes and the bridge of Avignon are its major landmarks. The Festival d'Avignon, which features art, theater, dance, film and street performances, is also world famous.
