Dating back in 1850, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, has history connected to the revolution that led to the Belgian independence. During an opera in 1830 and particularly while singing "Amour sacré pour la Patrie", the audience inspired by patriotism, poured into the streets in an effort to get rid of the Dutch.
Nowadays, the stunning neo-Classical style building decorated with statues of important Belgians, stands proud in the heart of Brussels, still housing quality opera productions. It has an equally gorgeous interior, luxurious interior with a painted dome and red velvet seats.
