Used to be a courthouse and now it's part of the city council's administration buildings. The Palace of the Liberty of Bruges stands out because of its white and gold coloration in a Gothic surrounding.
If you go inside make sure you see the fireplace with its black marble surface and alabaster frieze decoration. It is crowned by a carved oak chimney featuring Emperor Charles V and his family, who visited Bruges in 1515.
