Situated between the Markt and the Burg, Breydel De Coninck is a traditional fish restaurant that attracts mainly locals and Belgian visitors (always good news).
Two things you should watch out for.
A lot of mussels go around, crab legs, and other fish of the day which may run out if you go there late. But cooked fish may come with heavy cream sauces. On the day of the visit we ordered crab with lemongrass sauce and it was very creamy. The house shrimp again was swimming in cream. Plus the mussels come in wine and cream. So take it easy on the cream if you are not a big fan. The fish is so fresh, it does not need anything!
You should also be careful when ordering a plate for main instead of a starter, the price often doubles!
Service was ok but be patient and expect to be served in a less formal manner.
